Hello everyone!
My name is Buttercup, and I have the very important job of being the official greeter, cuddle puddle, lap warmer, and guest lover here at Chrome Spa Salon. Some people call me the salon cat, but I prefer to think of myself as the Director of Comfort and Relaxation.
Life didn’t always involve sunny windows, cozy beds, and head scratches. My story began a little differently.
I spent my early years surviving on the streets in Edmonton’s west end. Like many cats, I faced challenges and uncertainty, especially during our cold Alberta winters. Thankfully, some kind people noticed that I needed help, and I was rescued through Edmonton Cold Weather Animal Rescue (ECWAR), an organization dedicated to helping stray and abandoned cats find safety, medical care, foster homes, and loving forever families.
Chrome Spa Salon has proudly supported ECWAR and animal rescue causes for many years. Helping animals has always been close to the hearts of the team. Through fostering, adoption, fundraising, donations, and raising awareness, Chrome has become a safe place not only for people—but for cats looking for a second chance.
In fact, over the last two years alone, the Chrome family has helped foster and place more than 17 cats into loving homes.
And then there’s me.
Well… I was supposed to be a foster cat.
As they say in the rescue world, I became a “foster fail”—which really means everyone fell hopelessly in love with me, and I decided I wasn’t going anywhere!
At approximately ten years old, and believed to be part Maine Coon, I’ve happily settled into my forever home at Chrome. Every day I get to spend time with wonderful guests, talented stylists, and plenty of people who appreciate the healing power of a good cuddle.
Some of my favourite activities include:
- Greeting guests when they arrive.
- Providing complimentary cuddle therapy.
- Curling up in your lap while you relax.
- Supervising the salon from various sunny locations.
- Watching birds and squirrels outside the front windows.
- Exploring every corner of the salon.
- Making new friends.
- Testing all thirteen of my cat beds strategically placed throughout Chrome (quality control is important!).
I firmly believe that everyone deserves kindness, compassion, and a soft place to land. I was lucky enough to find that here, and now I get to share that comfort with everyone who walks through our doors.
Many guests say that spending time with me is one of their favourite parts of visiting Chrome. Whether I’m napping nearby, keeping watch over the plants, or making myself comfortable on your lap, I’m always happy to offer a little extra warmth and companionship.
